Extending in Vietnam

As a regular soldier I made the decision to extend my tour of duty from Sep 69-Sep 70 by the usual 6 months. The OC at the time stated that no extensions could be recommended however I could leave country for a month then commence a futher 6 months. I signed the document that remains in my personnel records expecting that some form of extended R & R was to take place. That never happened. At the due date I continued to serve in the field and completed 19 months in country. I arrived back in Australia in March 71.
