Looking for Ronnie Graupner

Post  BruceCameron on Wed Aug 12, 2009 3:34 pm

I'm looking for Ronnie, so as to seek some info on an operation I think he was involved in. He was posted to B Sqn 1AR from Feb to Sep 1969 (possibly as a driver/sig). I think he might currently be driving around Australia.

Any info would be appreciated. Happy if anyone can pass on my telephone number (02 6248 9562).

Many thanks, Bruce

Bruce,my suggestion would be to make contact with Phil Visino, and Keith Robertson. Both of these men were in SVN at the same time as Ron,and all three were truck drivers, not driver/sigs. All three are Victorians, and live in the country,so if anyone would know were Ron is, they should know. All the best, and keep punching.Z29F

Many thanks Kev,

I wasn't sure whether or not he was in Admin Tp or SHQ Tp. Both those you mentioned were involved in the same 'operation'. Unfortunately they're not aware of his present whereabouts.

Best wishes, Bruce

Hi Kev,

I was going to email you, but I don't think I have your latest email address. I occurred to me as well, that posting a message here, has the advantage that others may recall the circumstances.

"Thanks for the message re Ronnie Graupner. The reason I'm trying to find him relates to a foot patrol that I think he might have been involved in. On 1 July 1969, Jim Hull called a muster parade at midday. All the tank troops were in the field and it was mainly Admin Troop/FDT present. He called for volunteers to go on an SAS type patrol. It went ahead with the patrol leaving on 2 July, returning on 3 July...they became known as the 'Dirty Dozen'....commanded by Cpl Nobby Clark, 2IC was L/Cpl Bob Ferrari (FDT) and included Eric Nelson, Darrell Robertson, Philip Vicino (Admin Tp) and John Whitehorn (FDT).

It suddenly occurred to me that you might have been the one who called the parade....do you have any recollections of it or the patrol?"

Many thanks, Bruce

Bruce,
I will try and make contact with Eric Nelson,if you have not all ready done so. Yes I remember the parade in question, and the fellows you mention.not sure if Ferrera was in FDT,but that does not matter.I think he was in Bridge Layers etc. There is a few other SHQ and FDT members over here in WA and I will try and make contact with them,if it is okay with you.

Keep Punching

Hi Z29F,

Many thanks for your offer. I've actually been in touch, through Nobby Clark, with Eric (and the others named). It's these contacts which have thrown up Ronnie's name. Anything you can add would be much appreciated.

Many thanks, Bruce
