I was posted to 4th ARVN Cav Regt, which consisted of 2 Cav Troops and 1 Tank Troop. to put it into perspective the cav tps were called ACAT's (armoured cavalary assualt troops) a troop was the equivelant of an australian squadron as was the tank troop. Arvn aroured units were using the M113 with petrol engines

The night position occuppied by the 2nd Troop, 7th ARVN Cav was attacked by an NVA battalion on the morning of 25 April 1969. WO2 John 'Chesty' Bond, the AATTV adviser with the unit, was KIA.
I'm seeking info re two aslects of the above:
(i) was an ARVN Cav troop equivalent to our 3 Cav troop or was it a squadron equivalent?;
(ii) was 2nd Troop 7 ARVN Cav equipped with M113A1s (albeit in different configurations to ours) or did it also have tanks within its organisation?
Any help appreciated.
Bruce
